How to verify your phone number
Requirements
- You can only verify a phone number you own.
- You must be able to receive phone calls and SMS to the phone number you are trying to verify.
- You must have any call-blocking settings, apps or task killers disabled.
- You must have a working internet connection through mobile data or Wi-Fi. If you’re roaming or have a bad connection, verification may not work. Try opening www.okitel.com on your phone’s Internet browser to see if you are connected to the internet.
- Make sure you’re using a supported phone number. Unsupported phone numbers can’t be registered on Okitel and include:
- VoIP
- Landlines (Note: Landlines are only accepted on the Okitel Business app)
- Toll-free numbers
- Paid premium numbers
- Universal access numbers (UAN)
- Personal numbers
How to verify
- Enter your phone number:
- Choose your country from the drop down list. This will automatically fill your country code on the left.
- Enter your phone number in the box on the right. Don’t put any 0 before your phone number.
- Choose your country from the drop down list. This will automatically fill your country code on the left.
- Tap Next to request a code.
- Enter the 6-digit code you receive via SMS.
If you didn’t receive the 6-digit code by SMS
- Wait for the progress bar to finish and retry. The wait may take up to 10 minutes.
- Don’t guess the code, or you will be locked out for a period of time.
- If the timer runs out before you receive the code, an option will appear to request a phone call. Choose the Call me option to request the call. When you answer the call, an automated voice should tell you the 6-digit code. Insert that to verify Okitel.
Note: Depending on your carrier, you might receive charges for SMS and phone calls.
Troubleshooting steps
If you are having issues verifying, please try the following:
- Reboot your phone (To reboot your phone, turn it off, wait for 30 seconds, and turn it back on).
- Delete and reinstall the latest version of Okitel.
- Send a test SMS message from any phone to your own phone number exactly as you entered it in Okitel, including the country code, to check your reception.
We can’t send your code via any other method due to security reasons.

How to register your account with a missed call
When you create a Okitel account or re-register an existing account, you must confirm that you own your phone number, which helps keep your account secure. To successfully register your account, you must have an active SIM card in your device for the phone number you’re registering and a stable internet and cellular connection.
You can verify that you own your phone number via phone call or SMS. If you have the option to verify your account through a phone call, you can complete verification with a missed call from Okitel.
How to manage permissions
If given the option to register with a missed call, you must grant Okitel the following permissions:
- Manage calls: Allows Okitel to automatically end the incoming phone call.
- Access to call log: Okitel requires access to your call log so we can do a one-time check that you received the call.
Once you grant both of these permissions, you’ll receive a phone call, which Okitel will automatically end, to complete your registration. You don’t need to accept the phone call, and you might not see the incoming call. This will appear in your call log as a missed or rejected call from an unknown number.
If you choose to deny these permissions before completing registration, you must verify your phone number via SMS in order to register. When prompted, enter the 6-digit registration code sent to you via SMS to complete registration.
Note: You can disable these permissions at any time. To manage permissions, navigate to your device’s Settings and tap Apps > Okitel > Permissions.

If you’re trying to register your phone number and get a message that it’s not valid, email us at support@support.okitel.com. In your email, include your phone number in full international format and a description of your issue.
Note: You must have an active SIM card for the phone number you’re activating. VoIP numbers aren’t supported.
Registration
Use Okitel on Web, Desktop, and other devices by linking them to your phone. You can use up to four linked devices and one phone at a time.
Your personal messages, media, and calls are end-to-end encrypted. Each linked device connects to Okitel independently while maintaining the same level of privacy and security through end-to-end encryption that people who use Okitel have come to expect.
Learn more about end-to-end encryption in this article. For information on how we collect, process, and share your data, please see the Okitel Privacy Policy.
Note:
- Your phone doesn’t need to stay online to use Okitel on linked devices, but your linked devices will be logged out if you don’t use your phone for over 14 days.
- You need your phone to register your Okitel account and link new devices.
